What is Ashoka?

Ashoka is the world's largest network of social entrepreneurs.   They are more than 3300 innovators in over 85 countries. Ashoka supports these innovative social entrepreneurs who are addressing societal problems, after being selected through a process that has been well-tested since 30 years. Ashoka, then, support them with skills, network, but also with a scholarship-salary, in order to maximize the impact of their projects and to bring out a world in which each person is able to act quickly and effectively to address complex societal challenges.

What is the purpose of this round table?

The analysis of the Greek context leads Ashoka to believe that Social Entrepreneurship may develop a lot in a country that is facing many societal issues and must reinvents its social model which can no longer be based solely on a welfare state. In this context, supporting the growth of an ecosystem aiming at supporting social innovators working across different sectors (between social, business, and public powers) makes completely sense.

Therefore, Ashoka seeks to identify several French companies operating in Greece that might be interested in getting involved with social entrepreneurship by supporting innovative social projects, either financially, or by getting their co-workers involved with technical support (marketing, finance, human resources, development strategy, etc.) for social entrepreneurs.

Its results-oriented culture and the entrepreneurship skills of its members, make Ashoka network an ideal partner for business world’s organizations. Ashoka's approach and professionalism are widely recognized. In over 30 years of existence, Ashoka has been able to develop various and diverse partnerships, from pro bono services to strategic commitments or the creation of shared value.

This round table’s goal is to allow companies to discover the social innovation’s opportunities, the actions of the Ashoka network in Greece and collaboration’s possibilities.
